Established 2021 · Our newest QLD depot

Road train country

Townsville is the depot that stretched the map. When we established here in 2021, it meant Hills Tankers could service the entire east coast, out to the NT border and Gulf Country. The longest runs in the network leave from this yard, and they leave as road trains.

The depot sits on Kiernan Drive at Roseneath, an industrial estate on the edge of Townsville, with the room a loaded road train needs to stage and swing. This is the drier side of the Queensland tropics, and the work is the northern kind: bulk fuel delivered to retail outlets and mine sites, hauled on MC road train combinations.

It's also a depot still growing into its country. The Townsville driver roles we advertise are there to support ongoing contract expansion: new work coming on, not seats being backfilled.

What Townsville does

Road train fuel work

Safe, efficient delivery of bulk fuel to retail outlets and mine sites across the north, on MC road train combinations driven by road-train-experienced drivers.

The longest reach

From Townsville the network covers the east coast out to the NT border and Gulf Country: the furthest legs Hills runs, scheduled alongside Brisbane, Mackay and the Hunter.

The same safety spine

The NHVAS-accredited safety management system, GPS and dashcam monitoring and fatigue management programs that govern head office govern this yard too.

Road train seats, with the roster in the ad

Townsville driver ads are written for road train work, and like every ad we run, they publish the hourly rate and the roster before you apply. Two roster shapes have been offered here: rotating day and night shifts, home every day; or six days on, three days off, living in the truck through the rostered days for the long runs.

Previous fuel delivery experience helps, but it isn't essential: full training is provided, and it's paid and done properly. What the ads do ask for:

  • MC licence with road train experience
  • Dangerous Goods (DG) licence
  • Safe Load Program (SLP) card, or willing to obtain one
  • Working knowledge of BFM, Mass Management and Chain of Responsibility

If Townsville isn't listed on Seek today, it isn't hiring drivers today. The expression of interest keeps your details on hand for when it is.
