Established 2011

Our second Queensland depot

Mackay came four years after Brisbane: opened in 2011 to put tankers where the work is, between the port, the town and the Coalfields behind it. It stretched the network up the coast, and it means Mackay work is run by a Mackay depot, not trucked in from the south.

The depot works out of Factory 4 on Presto Avenue at Mackay Harbour, the working precinct on the seaward side of town. It's a fitting address for a carrier: this is a locality built around boats, cargo and early starts, not office blocks.

The trade is the one we've run since 1960, carried north: bulk fuel delivered safely to retail outlets around Mackay and to mine sites across the Coalfields, on rotating day and night shifts.

What Mackay does

Retail fuel deliveries

Bulk fuel to service stations and retail outlets around Mackay and the wider region, delivered on rotating day and night shifts, because forecourts don't keep office hours.

Mine site fuel

Fuel out to mine sites across the Coalfields, carried under the same NHVAS-accredited safety management system that runs the whole fleet. This is dangerous goods work, and it's audited like it.

The Queensland chain

Mackay links Brisbane to Townsville in a depot network that runs, in our own words, from Townsville to Newcastle and now Adelaide.

Operating in the tropics

Scheduled around a real wet season

Mackay gets around 1.6 metres of rain in an average year, and most of it lands in the same few months. That's the rhythm this depot works to: a long dry of steady runs, then a wet where roads can flood, site access tightens and every delivery window matters more.

It's the part of Queensland fuel work a southern depot can't feel from a map, and it's why having tankers based at the harbour beats sending them up the coast. When the weather closes in, the calls get made by people who woke up in it: hold, reroute or run.

If your site or store has seasonal access constraints, tell us when you enquire and we'll build them into the schedule rather than discover them in February.

The same system, north of the tropic

Mackay runs under the fleet-wide safety spine, not a lighter regional version of it:

  • NHVAS-accredited Safety Management System
  • Fatigue and Distraction Management programs
  • Real-time driver monitoring and GPS tracking
  • Cargo Risk Management on every load

MC drivers: Mackay hires as contracts grow

Our Mackay driver ads say it plainly: positions are there "to support ongoing contract expansion". That's a depot growing, not backfilling. The work is bulk fuel to retail outlets and mine sites, on rotating day and night shifts, in a modern fleet we maintain in-house.

Previous fuel delivery experience is advantageous, but it's not essential: full paid training is provided. The hourly rate is printed in the ad, not saved for the interview.

The Mackay ad, as at July 2026

  • MC Fuel Tanker Driver, full time
  • $55 to $60 an hour
  • Rotating day and night shifts
  • Retail and mine site deliveries
  • Full training provided

Listings rotate. The live ad on Seek is the source of truth; what you need to bring is on our careers page.
